How to use a diesel engine properly?

The influence of the use factors is multifaceted, such as the quality of fuel and lubricating oil, the use of diesel engine speed and load, environmental conditions and operating conditions. The discussion of the influence of these factors is also of the most practical significance to our practical work.


The quality of fuel and lubricating oil should be adapted to the structure of the diesel engine. Diesel containingsulfur or other impurities, in the combustion process will produce acid and other corrosive substances, accelerated wear of the cylinder; excessive heavy fraction diesel combustion, it is easy to form coke, the piston ring and cylinder produces abrasive wear; effect of diesel oil viscosity size on mixture formation, oil equipment reliability. For the lubricating oil, the biggest influence is the viscosity and oxidation resistance. It should be used according to the working conditions of the diesel engine, and it should not be used in a random way.


The test shows that the friction of the diesel engine increases with the increase of speed and load. As the load increases, the unit pressure on the surface of the friction increases and the heat condition is bad. When the speed increases, the number of friction in unit time is half added, and at the same power, the speed increase is larger than the load when the load is increased. However, the low speed can not guarantee the good liquid lubrication condition, and also increase the wear. Therefore, for a certain diesel engine, there is a most suitable range of working speed. In addition, when diesel engine often works on accelerating, slowing down, stopping and starting, because of frequent changes in speed and load, the lubrication condition of diesel engine is bad, the thermal state is unstable, and the wear will increase. Especially when starting, the crankshaft speed is low, the oil pump doesn't supply oil timely, and the oil temperature is low, the viscosity of the oil is large, the friction surface is hard to establish liquid lubrication, and the wear is very serious.


Use environment temperature of the diesel engine wear is also influential. When the temperature is high, the engine is easy to overheat, the viscosity of the lubricating oil is low, and the wear of the parts will be increased. When the temperature is low, the viscosity of the lubricating oil becomes larger, the diesel engine is difficult to start, and the cooling water can not keep the normal temperature when working, and the wear and corrosion of the parts are increased. When diesel engine starts at low temperature, the wear is more serious.


The working temperature of the diesel engine is one of the important factors affecting wear. During operation, due to the restriction of cooling system structure, the change of working load and speed, and the change of environment temperature, the working temperature of diesel engine has a great change range. The practice shows that the cooling water temperature is controlled at 75~85 C and the lubricating oil temperature is most favorable at 75~95 C.


To sum up, the rational use of diesel engine, reduce the abrasion of the parts, shall proceed from the following aspects:


1. the operation condition of the diesel engine is reasonably selected.  


2. improve the running in quality of diesel engine.  


3. choose fuel and lubricating oil suitable for engine work.  


4. improve the technical level of the operation and keep the maintenance in time.
